Handmade in the UK from solid FSC certified sustainable timber, the Blackbird Nester has a deep open ledge with shelter provided in the form of an apex roof, making it the perfect place blackbirds like to build nests. There's no need to add anything to the nesting box as blackbirds bring in their own material for nesting. However, it's good practice to clean the nester annually after you're confident it's been vacated, usually after September. Remember, blackbirds have a long breeding season and can have many broods!

The Blackbird Nester is made from slow-dried timber using jointed construction techniques and robust screws, making it extremely durable, eliminating the need for chemical preservatives. Ideally, it should be hung at the height of at least 1.5m, preferably concealed within some foliage away from predators and sheltered from the wind. You may also find other birds who like open-fronted nesting boxes such as robins, wagtails and dunnocks may be attracted to the nester too.
